FULL HOUSE 3 weeks / 3 day residencies / 3 artists / 3 institutions 9th - 26th March (Launching 26th February 6-8pm)
To coincide with Dutton and Swindells ‘The Stag and Hound’ at Project Space Leeds.
Patterns. Collaboration. Connections. Disruption. Drift. Reticence. Waywardness and Doubt…are words used by Steve Swindells and Steve Dutton to describe their work and process of working for the Stag & Hound exhibition currently showing at Project Space Leeds. Inspired by these words, PSL and SLICE Leeds are offering students and recent graduates from Leeds Met, Leeds College of Art and Leeds University the opportunity to participate in a three-day residency in PSL’s auxiliary project space ‘ The viewing room’. The student and new graduate artists involved will be mentored by a tutor or Leeds-based curator.
Come along to our launch night on Saturday 26th February where a fun evening of bingo, drinks and chance will allow you to put yourself forward for the residencies. Artists and tutors alike will be randomly selected through rounds of bingo. If you are interested in taking part, bring with you an object you are willing to be used and appropriated by the participants selected to take part in the residencies. Each week will run Wednesday to Saturday, ending with a Saturday evening ‘peer critique’ open to the public at the Wren’s pub.
Invitation to participate
If you’d like to get involved in FULL HOUSE you’ll need to:
• Be studying or teaching at or have graduated (in the past 3 years) from an art or design course at Leeds Met University, Leeds University or Leeds College of Art and Design. • Be available for bingo selection on Saturday 26th Feb 6 – 8pm at PSL (or send a substitute player!) • Donate a stimulus to the ‘creative materials pile’ – you must be willing for these items to be creatively re-used or appropriated. • Artists: Be able to commit to any of the 3-day residencies at PSL and attend Saturday Peer Critique.
